Brunch-a-licious

Our weekend was packed. But, we managed to make some time for cooking and relaxing on Sunday.

We started the day off with a fantastic brunch. Inspired by the biscuit recipe over at What Geeks Eat, we decided to try our hand at biscuits and gravy. I subbed in at least 1/2 whole wheat flour to give the biscuits more of a whole grain orientation, and I used buttermilk in my recipe (since I love the flavor and rise it gives to baking powder biscuits). I'm going to give a big shout out to Vanessa for her biscuit technique. Not only does it save time (and energy), but it really does ensure a tender biscuit. These were some of the best I've tried.

Here's a shot or two of our lovely brunch -- eggs over-easy and biscuits with milk sausage gravy.

Delish. And perfect with a cup of coffee and a side of the Sunday paper.
